How to get a wrap into the Outdoor-Community?
That babies and toddlers have always been carried seems to be obvious. What comes in handy, as almost all babies and children love to be carried around enjoying the physical closeness and responsiveness (1,2,3,4,5). And that comes in handy again for us adults, who can rarely escape the pull to not at least sometimes wink at such a bundle of joy. If you are not already succumbed to the irresistible baby smile and can't stop to cuddle the little fellow.
To combine a wrap, classically coming from the baby-community, with the outdoor area may surprise one or another, but on a closer look it should no longer seem beside the point.
Unfortunately the baby wrap-around suffers, outside of the baby-community, from a slightly washed-out image. From tree huggers over alternatives to super-moms to mention just a few. In reverse people outside of the outdoor-community get the impression that everything is all about life-style and technologically advanced equipment to play around instead about enjoying the outdoors.
And so conflicting these two communities may seem, they have something unifying in common. For it shall have occurred that people from the outdoor-community suddenly got children and wondered how to take them outside? And parents from the baby-community feel as if it would be great for the child and also for themselves to enjoy being outside more.
The unifying factor here are the children.
There are many different solutions how to take your children with you, by carrying or pushing. In colder regions probably also pulling. And for each individual there is the appropriate solution. A wrap for all weathers is another solution, which will particularly target the outdoor conditions that are encountered with young children outside. Whether in cold and humid regions, or tropical ones. Thus, the somewhat mythical image of the wrap can be converted into a functional piece that follows quite pragmatic considerations.
Who cares about the welfare and in particular the positive influence on your child's development is perfectly right by choosing a wrap. And those who don't bother about these benefits and are searching for something handy for outdoors, the wrap for all weather is not entirely wrong. We want to encourage parents to live their dreams and not to follow the belief that children might in any way constitute any limitations to life.
All these social norms and dogmas: When you have kids life will be over. You can't do anymore of "this" or "that"! We think this is nonsense. Because only kids make doing "this" and "that" really fun.
Don't let it get to yourself. Over half of the worlds population carry their babies in wrap-arounds, so you can do it, too. Otherwise have a look at the FAQs.
